The Art of Healing

It’s the time of year when we think about what’s happened the past year and what the new year holds in store.  Resolutions to improve and do things better are on everyone’s list and I’m doing lots of reflection myself.

My word for 2016 was Focus and I started the year with that very thought in mind.  But, sometimes the very best of intentions doesn’t work out.  For 2017 I’ve chosen the word Healing.  I’ve tried to capture The Art of Healing in this journal page.

Spring is Blooming Girl

It’s been a particularly cold and wet Winter here in Phoenix this year.  Which is actually a welcomed change for me.  I’ve been thinking of how much this rain will help my garden when it starts to bloom in the Spring.  So, the timing is perfect for me to finish up my next commissioned piece in a series of Seasons.  This Spring is Blooming Girl will be on her way to her new home soon, but let’s take a look at her creation…

Whale of a Canvas

I often ask my daughter her opinion of my works in progress. She’s a teenager, so sometimes her enthusiasm can be lacking and she would rather check her phone than come into my studio to look at what I’m working on.  But, she had a sensational reaction to my Autumn Hues Girl and asked me if I could create a canvas for her, but showcasing an Orca Whale.  I thought it would be a whale of a canvas (pun totally intended!).

Inspired by Intuition

There is a type of a painting technique called Intuitive Painting.  It is a method of trusting your brush, getting into meditation and letting go of inhibitions.  I’m so inspired by works of Tracy Verdugo and Flora Bowley!  They have such big and vibrant paintings that are marvelous.  How could I (a bit of a control freak) let go and let my intuition take over?
