I am enough – words of inspiration and affirmation for this week’s art journal page featuring Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. I admire her work, many of them self portraits, created during a time when she was from health problems and a rough marriage. But, she always believed in herself and her work and felt that she was enough.
This journal page was created in my altered book journal, I’m really loving working in this smaller journal lately. Started with simply adding some bright colors from DecoArt’s Media Line paints with an old card. I love the pattern the card leaves.
The next layer was with a stencil and some of my favorite plastic caps.
The Frida image I downloaded from Andy Skinner’s site, he has some great free images, click here. I sprayed it with DecoArt sealer with the intention of trying an image transfer. But, it didn’t work, apparently I need a laser print not ink jet. But, as you will see, it was a happy accident!
It ended being that the printable picked up the image of the page and she looked fantastic! What a Serendipitous thing! So I fussy cut her out and added her with Matte Gel Medium.
I then highlighted her with some charcoal pencils.
I’m loving my new Fude Ball pen! It writes on everything and it’s so smooth.
I love the look she’s giving here. It’s like she knows that she is enough, as am I and as are you.
