I’ve Been Published!

I’m feeling so blessed and giving God thanks for all of it!  One of my goals for 2014 was to have some of my work published in Somerset Studio magazine. Well, I was so happy to see that I have an article and artwork in the July/August issue.

The magazine has a regular segment called The Last Page, and it’s always an article and art from an artist that has been impacted by creating.

My article is called Finding A New Passion in Art, and I wrote about how I found my love for art after a battle with Stage III Ovarian Cancer.  The canvas I created is mainly in Teal because that is the color of Ovarian Cancer and the butterfly has become my personal symbol of overcoming.  You will see butterflies in much of my artwork and my mailers have butterflies stamped on the outside.  I also wrote words that continue to give me encouragement.

I am 2 1/2 years in remission and taking one day at a time and everyone as a blessing.  I encourage every woman to visit www.ovarian.org to learn more about this disease, symptoms and how you can help support survivors.

Blessings,

Wow Carmen, Congrats! My Mom passed away from ovarian cancer, so I understand what you went through! You’re an amazing and exceptionally talented woman. Art Journaling helped me to deal with the pain of losing her and my sister. Art heals and you’re a lovely testimony to that!
