I’m so happy to present you with my first project for Canvas Corps Brands! I know it’s been a little while since I announced I was a Crew Member for their Vintage Re-do & Home Projects, but good things come to those who wait! All crew members (no matter what team you were assigned) were asked to design a 4 x 4 stretched canvas that represents me and my design style.
Needless to say, this was a small canvas to put everything that represents you and your style. But, I tried to use colors and other symbolic things that represent me.
I started by applying some Damask patterned tissue with gel medium and then some modeling paste mixed with Teal acrylic paint. The Teal color and the butterfly represent my being an Ovarian Cancer survivor. The Damask tissue and the French saying scrapbook paper are for my love of all things French. I also really like the saying “C’est La Vie”, That is life. The musical tag and Jute cord have the word Believe hand written on it. That is my word for 2015.
The red flea market ticket on the burlap sheet is from when I went to the Rose Bowl flea market in Pasadena, Ca. One of the biggest and best flea markets in the U.S. I love shopping flea markets for vintage books to use in my booth displays, photo displays as you can see in this one and also paper ephemera to use in my art work. The other items (flower button, lace trim and chiffon flower) speak again to my love of vintage, but also my love of flowers and gardening.
I was actually surprised how much I could fit onto this small canvas and I really liked the natural stretched texture of the canvas.
Be on the look out for more projects from me showcasing the great Canvas Corps Brands products, including Tattered Angels and 7Gypsies!
