One of the reasons I love thrifting is the hunt for the treasure. That one or two pieces that are such an incredible deal and can be brought back to life with a little TLC. I have one area in my home that is decorated with 90 % of thrift store rescues. Some of them have been painted and some have were just been cleaned up and placed on the shelf. This red shelf was a Goodwill find that I simply added the knobs from Hobby Lobby. It was already my favorite color red, which worked great with the breakfast nook. It holds my small collection of tin trays, cans and one pitcher. All of the trays were also Goodwill finds, the four tin cans I found at a local shop called Merchant Square. I love going into that consignment antique shop! I have a bookcase there where I sell my vintage teacup soy candles, so I’m in there a lot. But, it’s mostly for buying from other vendors! You may recognize the painted pitcher I highlighted in a tutorial last month

This rough looking shelf with drawers was also a Merchant Square find. It was in their outside salvage covered area, so it had been exposed to the elements some. But, I cleaned it, sanded it and painted it. I even kept the beans and pasta it came with, after close inspection though.
It now holds some of my little treasures, mismatched knick knacks that I love collecting from thrift stores and yard sales. For now I have it hanging on a wall, but I think it would look better sitting atop a small buffet or table. I’m on the lookout for the perfect fit.
These little salt and pepper shakers are adorable and I’ve never seen teapot shaped ones.

This amish themed painting I originally purchased because I wanted to paint the frame and use it for something else, but once I got it home, I fell in love with the little painting. I also loved the little farm scene on this mini shelf. These two items fit perfectly in this little corner of the nook.
This little print is one of my favorite finds. It is a print with little dried flowers to give it a 3D effect and it is of the post office of a small village in the Cotswolds area of England. The back of the frame has a stamp of the shop in the village that it was sold. It is on my bucket list to visit this part of England, so when I found this little frame, it was a very serendipitous moment.
Even the place mats were a Goodwill find. I’m trying to find some burlap ones now so I can decorate the nook for fall.
I’ve found that when I go looking for something specifically, rarely do I find that item. But, when I go just to look because there’s a sale or I have a coupon, then I find treasures. I don’t buy just to buy, the item has to speak to me in a sense. I have to really love it and see beyond any of it’s defects. That’s how I find my treasures.

Hi Carmen, what wonderful treasure you have found! I love the tin collection and the shelf with all of your knick knacks was a great find. I too love thrifting. I also find things when I am not looking for anything specific. Yesterday I decorated my table like a witches laboratory. I stopped at a thrift and snagged some chemistry vials. How often does that happen? Wasn’t even looking. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
