The Art Show season is about to start for me and I’ve been working on updating my display items for my booth. I love to upcycle and repurpose items as opposed to buying new ones, this is so much easier on my budget! But, they also have to provide me with double duty of storage before, during and after my event.
This wood serving tray was originally a thrift store rescue that had a white center and wood grain sides. Last year I painted it red and decoupaged the center with music sheet and scrapbook papers. I wanted to lighted it up so I painted it with 2 coats of Americana Decor Chalky Finish paint in Lace.
Once dry, I applied a coat of deep brown Americana Decor Creme Wax with a wax brush. I painted the center to ensure the colors from the old paper don’t show through the new paper that I was going to decoupage.
I tore the sheets of the Victorian Romance DecouPage Paper and adhered them with the Decoupage matte medium. This gave the tray a collaged and more vintage look, which is what I wanted. I’m really pleased that this tray can continue to be a part of my display. I use it for height on my table and display smaller canvases on it. But, underneath is where I hide my pen, order book, phone, water and a little snack. So, it serves a double purpose for me in displays and during the show storage.
I also painted this wood crate to be used for displaying my mounted prints and double as storage. I used the Americana Decor stencil French Living with the chalky finish paint in Cameo.
This crate will be used for storing, transporting and displaying my 8″ x 10 and 11″ x 14″ mounted prints, so I guess that’s three purposes!
Last year I repurposed this wonderful vintage suitcase with stencil and chalky finish paint. I use this suitcase to transport and display my journals and note card packs, it works brilliantly and keeps my theme of vintage goodness in my booth.
Stay tuned for an upcoming post on my first show of the season, The Chandler Art Walk where I will share with you how all these items look together.
Thanks so much friends for visiting with me and always showing your support, it is truly appreciated!
