When my kids were babies I did their nurseries in the traditional pink for her and blue for him. Bunnies and cars on the walls. They looked wonderful and I think that classic style is still beautiful. But, one part of the nursery decor that is timeless are nursery gallery walls.
The genius of creating a gallery wall is that you can include so many things; prints, monograms letters, arrows, animals, shelves. Just about anything. And there is no specific number of items you need. It can contain just 3 prints or 10 items.
You can make it as eclectic as you like and even in a corner. This gallery wall in a cozy reading corner is full of all the things a little boy would love; animals, arrows, ice cream, even a mini custom portrait of the family. Who wouldn’t want to hang out here all day long?
Want a little bit more minimalist style? How about a set of animal prints in classic white frames? The area over the changing table is a popular spot to decorate. Definitely make sure the items are hung securely.
A set of three prints can create an instant gallery. Even easier if they are digital downloads and you can print them yourself. This set, “Thank Heaven for Little Girls”, is from my shop and is a soft watercolor theme.
Arrows are such a popular trend right now. For both boy and girl’s rooms, combine them with animals and prints for a complete look.
Arrows can even take on a shabby chic theme…
This trio of prints are themed with arrows and compasses. A great starting point for a bigger gallery wall.
A very popular element on nursery walls now is string art. It’s so unique and some designs can be so intricate. In this nursery, a monogram string art plaque is something this child can keep forever.
If you want a whimsical animal design for your woodland themed nursery, I would recommend Strings by Jen. She has some wonderful items already in her shop, but specializes on custom orders. (disclosure: Jen is my very talented and beautiful niece)
Rarely do I give 2 examples from one room. But this nursery had 2 gallery walls that I just loved! The first is the gallery wall of vintage styled mirrors. I am a lover of anything vintage and incorporating that into a nursery i think is sheer genius!
The second is this resourceful wall with not only prints and lovelies, but shelves that can be used to hold and reach necessary items.
Did any of these walls catch your eye? So many lovely designs, and these aren’t the only ones. You can see more on my Baby Room Ideas pinterest board.
