Red + Red + Metallic – SOC Week #4

Our Summer of Color continues with week #4 and a combination that I’m not too accustomed to using.  Red + Red + Metallic is the challenge for this week.  I will admit I’m not a big metallic user, although I have metallic paints, markers and even pastes, I simply don’t use them on a regular basis.  So, this week I’m excited to create something new and unique.

I gathered every medium I could find in shades of red and a gold metallic.

I layered 2 shades of red on my art journal page and once dry, I randomly spread some Gold Interference gel from DecoArt Media Line.  It gave the page a wonderful gold shimmer.

I remembered that I had some Gelli Plate® prints in red, so I cut out some hearts, adhered them with gel medium and once dry added some Gold Interference on top.  The Sharpie gold paint marker was perfect for outlining.

I also mixed some modeling paste with gold metallic paint, but it did lose some of it’s shimmer.  I applied it with a script stencil from The Crafter’s Workshop.

This week was a really unique combination for me and one that I normally would not have selected.  I love that this challenge is doing just that, challenging me.

I love the work of art you made using this week’s SOC colors! It is beautiful, unique, and absolutely fabulous! I have metallic paints at home, too, and rarely use them! I wonder why? This was so much fun! I can tell you had fun making yours, too!

Beautiful piece today. It is very rich and looks very old-though its not obviously. Probably because of the red background-its a beautiful shade.
