Lotus Flowers are Blooming

Did I mention the obsession love I have had for Lotus flowers in meadows?  Well, it’s definitely manifesting itself in my art recently with several canvases.  Perhaps it’s because this beautiful flowers emerges within a murky pond and stands out among the foliage. It’s also a symbol of purity and beauty within the Buddhist and Hinduism faiths.

Are you a Coffee or Tea Lover?

Every morning one of the first things I do, is brew myself a pot of coffee.  I can’t seem to really get my day started without that ritual and enjoying a few cups of coffee.  My kids have tried it and can’t understand how I could drink it, but I told them it’s an acquired taste that comes with years of working and needing a pick me up in the morning.  They’ll understand one day why coffee is my friend.

Vintage English Frame Makeover

I have many frames and pieces of artwork that I consider treasures found in thrift stores.  Sometimes all they need is a little dusting and other times they need a little more help.  This particular frame is very special to me because it has some history behind it and a connection to England.  Which, if you know me, I have an obsession with visiting England one day.

Thrifty Fall Table

Hi friends!  Today I’m sharing with you my Fall tablescape in my home.  This is my favorite time of the year, not only because the long hot Phoenix Summer is behind us, but I can bring out the decorations I’ve had stored away.  Every year I try to do my Fall tablescape a little different.  Last year I displayed my Blue Willow collection, this year I decided to do a more eclectic look of colors, but all of them being vintage thrift store finds.

Table with Chalky Finish and Stencils

I’ve had this adorable little table for a few years now.  I rescued it from a thrift store and gave it a nice coat of red paint that I had on hand.  But recently I’ve been updating my show booth and this table is the perfect size to use on my larger table or on the ground.  But the red wasn’t matching the rest of my display items.  So out came the Chalky Finish paint and stencils.

Blue Willow Autumn Table

It’s finally Friday and I hope your week was a good one.  October seems to be flying by for me and this morning I was finally able to put the finishing touches of Autumn on my dining room table.  In this room I was going with a totally new look using many of the blue willow china pieces I already had.  It’s the softer look of Autumn and I’m liking the more simplistic feel.

My Fall Faux Mantle

Living in Arizona we don’t get much opportunities to use fireplaces, in fact many homes don’t have them.  Mine is one of those homes.  I live in a 1958 ranch home that had been updated wonderfully when I purchased it 3 years ago.  But one of the things I wish it had is a fireplace.  I see so many pictures on Pinterest and other blogs of beautifully decorated mantles and I’m so envious!  So to satisfy my need of seasonal decorating I use the top of my entertainment unit in my family room

Fall Harvest Flower Mixed Media Tutorial

Mixed media canvases has become one of my favorite ways to decorate for holidays and seasons.  You can add so much of yourself to the canvas, whether it’s items you already have, special items that have a meaning or your favorite colors.  This fall season I’ve been creating canvases that have rich, deep tones.  Today I want to share with you the process I go through for an original piece.
