Have you picked a “word” for 2014 yet? Something that you will focus on for the new year. My word is “Grow”, and that’s in my personal life and professionally. For my business and artwork it means trying new techniques, and getting out of my comfort zone. So for my first mixed media canvas of the year I combined my mixed media layering with hand drawn doodling.
“We’ll always have Paris”, that’s what Humphrey Bogart said to Ingrid Bergman in the movie Casa Blanca. It’s one of my favorite movies and it never gets old for me. That line and the scenes in Paris were the inspiration for my new canvas series. I started by creating this art journal page.
Vintage with a pop of color is the theme of this 8″ x 10″ canvas board. The vintage sewing pattern tissue adds whimsy and unique lines.
I’m so happy to be a part of Seth Apter’s 6th Annual Buried Treasure for bloggers. Over on his page, The Altered Page, you will find a wonderful and inspirational list of bloggers favorite posts from the past. It’s buried treasure of art bloggers! This was my first post of 2014 and one of my favorite canvases to create.
It felt so good to be back in my studio and getting my hands messy. I had been working on the “business” side for the last week and no time for creating.
This 5″ x 7″ canvas is the result.
It’s that time of year, graduations are in the air and young adults are planning for their futures. So, if you know someone that is graduating, you’re probably thinking of some gift ideas. I’ve added some new items to my shop and some gift wrap options too.
Ever since I had children of my own, I’ve made my Mother’s Day gifts to my mom from her grandchildren. My mom has 7 grandchildren total and 3 great grandsons (soon to be 4). All of the grandkids have been taken care of by her, none of them ever went to daycare. So, she has had a huge part in their upbringing. Since Grandmothers are so special, I decided to make a canvas that was specially for them.
Spring time is here and flowers are blooming! Time to create a collage with some pretty paper, colors and a little bit of lace.
Yesterday I worked on a new canvas that has very much a Spring inspiration of flowers and blooming. I really like working on these larger canvases, this one is 11″ x 14″ and is a gallery wrapped canvas.
