Lately I’ve had an interest in Lotus flowers and how striking they look as a focal point in a canvas. I had painted them before in muse canvas of the girl in a meadow setting. But, this time I was working on a smaller 12″ x 12″ gallery wrapped canvas and wanted to make the flowers central.
I’ve recently been very intrigued by art work showcasing Mexican Folk Artist Frida Kahlo. I do admire her work of self portraits and how she used her art for her own healing. But, her image is also a great inspiration for many artists. So many different ways to draw those infamous eyebrows! The home that she lived in is known as La Casa Azul, the Blue House, in Mexico City and that is the background for my piece.
Lately I’ve been coming across lots of Lotus flowers in mixed media and I really wanted to combine that lovely flower with one of my girls. My latest creation is a girl set in a meadow setting with lots of flowers around her.
This week I finished my latest girl art canvas that is titled “The Search for Truth Begins”. This title was taken from a chapter title on a page that I used as part of the background. I was so taken by the title and I thought it would be a perfect match for my girl.
This is the finished canvas.
