Drawing girl faces is one of my favorite art mediums and I’m always practicing and improving. But, sometimes (especially in the beginning) you need a little help to get started.

Watercolor Girl
I often will do sketches of girl’s faces and come back later to color them with watercolor or acrylic paint. This week I did just that with this Watercolor Girl sketch using watercolor crayons and my aqua-brushes.
Frida Kahlo in her Blue House Garden
I’ve recently been very intrigued by art work showcasing Mexican Folk Artist Frida Kahlo. I do admire her work of self portraits and how she used her art for her own healing. But, her image is also a great inspiration for many artists. So many different ways to draw those infamous eyebrows! The home that she lived in is known as La Casa Azul, the Blue House, in Mexico City and that is the background for my piece.
Whimsical Girl Art Collection
I have been busy (and a little obsessed!) with creating these wonderfully whimsical girls! I have made some as original canvases and others are available as prints or mounted prints.
This lovely girl with her eyes closed is focused on her dreams and believing that they will come true. She is available as an 8″ x 10″ or 11″ x 14″ print or mounted print.

This week I finished my latest girl art canvas that is titled “The Search for Truth Begins”. This title was taken from a chapter title on a page that I used as part of the background. I was so taken by the title and I thought it would be a perfect match for my girl.
Art Journal Page with a Mask
You all know how I love using stencils! I can’t get enough of them! Well I finally got around to using a mask in my art journal. It’s really the opposite of a stencil, or the cut out portion of the stencil. It’a great way to highlight a wonderful background and incorporating it into a figure.
