It felt so good to be back in my studio and getting my hands messy. I had been working on the “business” side for the last week and no time for creating.
This 5″ x 7″ canvas is the result.
I went looking in my scraps bin and took out some gelli plate prints, scrapbook paper and some post card printables. I used DecoArt’s DecouPage to collage them to the canvas.
I then added some acrylic paint with glazing medium from Americana to tone down the canvas and mesh all the papers together.

I love Tim Holtz Distress Inks! I love the vintage and time worn look they give papers. I applies the Vintage Photo color to the bird printable and the canvas.
Continued working on the background with Dylusions stencils, Americana paint and Paper Wings Productions stamps.
I love this charcoal pencil! I used it around the red bird to give it a more dimensional look. I used my finger to rub the pencil line and blend it in.
I let it sit overnight and I was wondering if I was done. You know how I love adding words to my art, so I was contemplating what to add to this one. The phrase “Take Flight” was really in my head, but in the end I decided that it was perfect the way it was.

Love it! very lovely and kind of makes me think Victorian.
Great piece of mixed media. You seem to use the same supplies as I do. I distress ink almost everything :>)
This is awesome! I am just getting into mixed media but I am thinking it will be useful when I want to start doing wall decorations around the house. Visiting from Turn it Up Tuesday.
You have such talent! Love it!! Thanks for sharing it with SYC.
