I’ve been so busy this first weekend of the year! I’ve been in my studio creating a Valentines collection. I’ve named it the Torn Hearts Collection. It’s not meant to be a sad collection, it’s simply the common thread in all of the pieces. I didn’t want any straight cut edges in any of the canvases. So that meant that I tore all of the papers before adhering them. Hence, all of the hearts are torn.
There are two themes to this collection. These first 4 canvases are more classic red, black and white Valentines. Lots of script, texts about love and classic patterns like Damask.
All of the tissue papers, scrapbook papers, burlap swatches and burlap twine are from Canvas Home Basics. They have a wonderful selection of colors and textures. I used many of my own stash of vintage book pages and music sheets.
The chiffon flowers are from Lavish Laces on Etsy. They are great quality at incredible prices.
The other half of the collection is more of a Shabby Chic style with soft pastel colors, flowers and classic patterns like harlequins.
All of the acrylic paints, gel mediums, crackle paste, gesso and modeling paste are from DecoArt’s Media Line.
In this piece you can see how beautifully the crackle paste works with acrylic paint and really gives the canvas a vintage look.
I hope you enjoyed taking a look at my latest collection. I know I truly enjoyed making them. You can always stop by my shop for more canvases, prints and note cards.
