It may be the middle of Winter, but I have some soft Spring colors on my mind with this Time For Love Art Journal Page. It’s wonderful layers of paper, paint, modeling paste, gesso and pen.
Supplies used for this project…
- Media Line Gesso
- Media Line Modeling Paste
- FudeBall Pen
- Media Line Shimmer Mist – White
- Americana Acrylic Paints – Pineapple, Sea Aqua, Peacock Teal, Green Mist, Tangelo Orange, Deep Periwinkle, Cocoa, Terra Coral, Flesh Tone
- Palette knife
The first layer was adhering some scrapbook paper I had in my stash with Matte Medium.
I started adding some color by wet brushing on some Pineapple on the entire page. Then with a a palette knife I scraped on some Sea Aqua and gesso for more texture. Using a palette knife is one of my favorite ways to apply paint.
Time to add some vibrant color. This Terra Coral color is perfect to use with the Poppy Field stencil. I moved the stencil around and used it randomly.
To give the page more of a garden feel I used the Rustic Portal stencil with Cocoa paint and then mixed the remaining Terra Coral paint and modeling paste for the heart portion of the stencil. This adds even more depth and texture.
Here you can see several stages of the page. I added some more visual detail with the Moroccan Sun stencil and Sea Mist color. I’ve also started the face of my girl with penciling her in, but I used one of the face on the Many Faces stencil to help me along.
For the title of the page I used Time For Love stencil with a mix of modeling paste and Peacock Teal color. Teal is one of my favorite colors (FYI…It represents Ovarian Cancer). Lots of texture on this page!
I added some details to my girl using a wet brush to apply Flesh Tone paint, Deep Periwinkle hair and eyes, and finally some Tangelo Orange lips. Isn’t she lovely?
My Fudeball pen is one of my favorite pens. It writes on any surface and gives great details. I wanted a”sketchy” outline to her and this pen was perfect for that.
I sprayed some DecoArt Shimmer Mist in White and had it drip down the page.
Here is the finished page. Many layers, details and textures with some soft Spring colors.
